NEW YORK – A new professional basketball league announced it will begin play during the 2020/2021 season.

The league will be based in New York under the direction of Founder and CEO Howard Jordan, who will also serve as Commissioner of the new league and C. Edward “Ed” Schumer who was named Associate Commissioner and Chief Strategy Officer.

Jordan is the founder and CEO of The Real Estate Investors Group (TRIG) of New York. He was an All-American Division II three sport athlete (Football, Basketball, Track). Jordan played in the NFL as well as in the NBA Pro-Am Leagues in New York and is a certified physical trainer (NASM-CPT).

“One of my goals is to offer post-collegiate basketball players an opportunity to continue the pursuit of their dream to play professional basketball. The UBA will offer them the chance to stay home and pursue that dream,” said Jordan.

The league also announced that C. Edward “Ed” Schumer became a Director of the league and would assume the position of Chief Strategy Officer and Associate Commissioner for the league. Schumer served for more than 20 years as an NCAA basketball official and also served as the Commissioner for both an NAIA Division 1 basketball conference as well as a high-level professional basketball minor league.

“I am excited to be part of the vision of the UBA,” said Schumer. “Howard Jordan has a passion for all aspects of basketball and his career accomplishments and reputation not only as a player and coach but also in the business aspects of the game is impressive. I look forward to this opportunity to implement his vision and execute his plans to achieve his goals.”

New York, New Jersey and Connecticut have been selected conditionally as charter members of the new league with several other teams under consideration as well.

The league will host an invitation combine in June 2020 to identify and evaluate talent for invitations to league training camps scheduled for November 2020.

Additional releases regarding the league and charter teams will be announced in the next few weeks.

Information about the league and teams will be available at the league website www.USAUBA.com with a full site and social media platforms launching in the coming weeks.
